- Prep the Bulbs: Slice off about 1/4 inch from the top of each whole garlic head, exposing the cloves. Leave the paper skin intact to help with steaming.
- Season and Wrap: Place each bulb cut-side up on a piece of aluminum foil. Drizzle with ½ tsp olive oil and sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper. Tuck in a sprig of rosemary or thyme if desired.
- Create the Pocket: Fold up the foil edges and tightly wrap each bulb to create a sealed pocket. This traps steam for faster cooking and better texture.
- Load the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Place the foil-wrapped bulbs directly into the basket.
- The Magic 5 Minutes: Cook for 5–7 minutes depending on bulb size. Start checking at 5 minutes — cloves should feel soft when gently pressed.
- Check and Serve: Carefully open the foil packet (it will be hot). Squeeze out the roasted cloves into a bowl and mash with a fork for a creamy spread.
