Ingredients

  • 2 firm ripe pears Bosc, Anjou, or Bartlett
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted, or coconut oil for vegan
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup for vegan
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon plus extra for sprinkling
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup walnuts chopped, or pecans, or toasted oats/pumpkin seeds for nut-free
  • nutmeg or cardamom optional, for extra warmth

Equipment

  • Air Fryer,
  • Small mixing bowl
  • pastry brush

Method

  1. Wash and dry the pears. Slice them in half lengthwise. Scoop out the core and seeds from each half, creating a small well. Lightly brush the cut surfaces with lemon juice.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter (or coconut oil), honey (or maple syrup), and cinnamon until well combined to make the glaze.
  3. Place the pear halves cut side up and generously coat the cut surface with the cinnamon glaze using a pastry brush or spoon, ensuring some pools in the center well.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C). Place pear halves in the basket in a single layer without overlapping.
  5. Air fry for 10 to 15 minutes, checking around 10 minutes. Pears are done when tender and edges are golden caramelized.
  6. Remove pears carefully from the air fryer. Sprinkle chopped walnuts (or chosen topping) into the center of each pear half.
