Equipment

  • Air Fryer,

Ingredients

Fresh Broccoli

  • 1 large head broccoli about 1 lb, cut into medium florets

Seasonings

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp sea salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper freshly cracked
  • ¼ cup grated parmesan cheese optional
  • pinch red pepper flakes optional
  • lemon juice fresh squeeze at the end

Instructions

  • Wash and thoroughly dry the broccoli. Cut into medium-sized, uniform florets. Try to keep them relatively uniform in size so they cook evenly. Don't discard the stems! Peel the tough outer layer, slice them into ¼-inch thick coins, and toss them in with the florets.
  • Place the dried florets and stem pieces in a large bowl. Drizzle with the olive oil and toss gently until every piece is lightly coated. Sprinkle in the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. If you're using them, add the red pepper flakes now. Toss everything again until the seasonings are evenly distributed.
  • Preheat your air fryer for 3-5 minutes at 375°F (190°C). This step helps achieve golden edges and perfect texture. Do not overcrowd the basket - arrange the seasoned broccoli in a single layer.
  • Cook for 8-12 minutes at 375°F (190°C). Shake the basket halfway through (around the 5-minute mark) to ensure even cooking.
  • During the last 2 minutes of cooking, open the basket and sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the broccoli.
  • Once done, transfer the broccoli to a serving bowl. Serve immediately, finishing with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice for brightness.

Notes

This recipe is naturally low-carb and can be made Vegan by omitting the parmesan cheese. It works well with both fresh and frozen broccoli, and can also be made without oil using aquafaba or water to help seasonings adhere.
