Ingredients

Chocolate & Butter
  • 1/2 cup dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips or finely chopped bar 60-70% cacao preferred
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
Egg Mixture
  • 1 large whole egg
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
Dry Ingredients
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch salt

Equipment

  • Air Fryer,
  • Ramekins (4-6 oz)
  • microwave-safe bowl,
  • - Whisk
  • - Spatula

Method

  1. Prep your ramekins by generously buttering the inside and dusting with cocoa powder. Tap out any excess.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips and melted butter. Microwave on high in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until smooth and glossy.
  3. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the whole egg, egg yolk, and sugar until pale yellow and slightly thickened (about 1-2 mins).
  4. Pour the melted chocolate and butter mixture into the egg mixture. Add vanilla extract and salt, and whisk gently until just combined.
  5. Sift in flour and cocoa powder. Gently fold into the wet ingredients until just combined, avoiding overmixing.
  6. Divide the batter evenly between two prepared ramekins, filling about 2/3 full.
  7. Place ramekins in the air fryer basket. Cook at 350°F (175°C) for 8-10 minutes. The edges should be set but the center still jiggles slightly.
  8. Let rest for 1-2 minutes, then carefully invert onto serving plates to unmold.
