  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • 1/2 cup milk any kind works, but whole milk makes them extra tender
  • 1 large egg at room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Glaze or Coating
  • 1 cup powdered sugar for classic glaze
  • 2 tbsp milk for glaze
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract for glaze
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar for cinnamon-sugar coating
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon for cinnamon-sugar coating
  • 2 tbsp melted butter for brushing with cinnamon-sugar coating

Equipment

  • Air Fryer,
  • - Mixing bowls
  • Donut Cutter or Small Round Cookie Cutter
  • Baking sheet
  • - Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Lightly flour your work surface and roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thickness.
  6. Use a donut cutter or a small round cookie cutter to cut out shapes. Gather any scraps, reroll the dough, and cut more donuts.
  7. Place donuts in the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure they’re not touching.
  8. Cook for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. The exact time depends on air fryer model.
  9. Remove from air fryer and let cool slightly before glazing or coating.
  10. Prepare glaze or coating and drizzle or dip as desired.
