Prepare the Base
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a 9x9 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving a little overhang on the sides.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and both sugars until the mixture looks like wet sand.
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract, beating until the batter looks glossy and smooth.
- Gently fold in the flour, baking powder, and salt until the last streak of flour disappears.
Create the Cinnamon Swirl
- In a separate small bowl, mix the melted butter, extra brown sugar, and cinnamon.
- Spread the main batter into the prepared pan.
- Drop spoonfuls of the cinnamon mixture on top of the batter.
- Using a butter knife, swirl the cinnamon mixture into the batter.
Bake and Frost
- Place the pan in the oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the center slightly jiggles.
- While the bars are cooling, whip the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and milk until smooth.
- Spread the cream cheese frosting over the warm bars.
- Let the bars cool completely before slicing into 16 bars.
