- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the Pasta Shells: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Cook the jumbo shells according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and rinse under cold water to stop the cooking process.
- Prepare the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the cottage cheese, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
- Stuff the Shells: Gently fill each cooked shell with the cheese mixture, using a spoon or your hands. Place the filled shells seam side up in a greased baking dish.
- Make the Sauce: In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in the marinara sauce and let it simmer for a few minutes.
- Assemble the Dish: Pour the marinara sauce over the stuffed shells, ensuring they are well-covered. Sprinkle additional mozzarella cheese on top if desired.
- Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Serve: Allow the shells to cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.
