              Notes

For a gluten-free version, substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free measure-for-measure flour blend. To make vegan fritters, use a flax egg (1 tablespoon flax meal plus 3 tablespoons water) and nutritional yeast instead of parmesan cheese. These fritters can be stored in an airtight container with pieces of parchment paper between the layers for up to 3 to 4 days in the refrigerator. Reheat in a toaster oven or standard oven at 350 degrees for about 5 to 7 minutes to maintain crispiness.
