Ingredients

  • 3 large ripe bananas the riper, the better
  • 2 cups of self-rising flour this already contains the right amount of leavening agents
  • ½ cup of sugar brown sugar or white, depending on preference
  • 1 large egg

Method

  1. Preheat and Prep: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan with butter or non-stick spray. Alternatively, you can line the pan with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. Mash the Bananas: In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas until they form a smooth, creamy texture. You can use a fork, potato masher, or even a hand mixer if you prefer a smoother consistency.
  3. Mix in the Sugar and Egg: Add the sugar and egg to the mashed bananas. Stir until well combined and smooth.
  4. Add the Flour: Gradually fold in the self-rising flour. Be careful not to overmix; stirring until the flour is just incorporated is enough.
  5. Pour into the Pan: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it out evenly. Tap the pan on the counter to remove any air bubbles.
  6. Bake: Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. If you notice the top browning too quickly, lightly cover it with foil for the remainder of the baking time.
  7. Cool and Serve: Once baked, let the banana bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice, serve, and enjoy your delicious homemade banana bread!
