  • 8 oz chow mein noodles or substitute lo mein, spaghetti, or gluten-free rice noodles
For the Best Chow Mein Sauce Recipe
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce low sodium preferred. Use tamari for gluten-free chow mein
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce for vegan chow mein, use mushroom-based stir-fry sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 cup broth chicken or vegetable
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
For the Stir Fry Vegetables and Protein
  • 2 tbsp oil vegetable, peanut, or avocado oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger fresh and grated
  • 2 cups vegetables shredded cabbage, shredded carrots, bean sprouts, and sliced bell peppers
  • 1 cup cooked protein chicken, beef, shrimp, or tofu (optional)
  • 3 green onions sliced for garnish
