- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius).
- Steam the broccoli florets for about 3-4 minutes until tender but still vibrant green. Set aside.
- In a small skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the finely diced onion and sauté until translucent. Stir in the minced garlic during the last minute.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and chicken broth. Use a whisk to blend until smooth.
- Fold in the shredded chicken breast, steamed broccoli, sautéed onion and garlic mixture, and half of the shredded cheddar cheese. Season with salt and black pepper.
- Transfer the mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Spread it out evenly.
- Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese and parmesan cheese over the top. Place the dish in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are bubbly and the cheese is golden brown.
- Let the casserole sit for about 5-10 minutes before serving to allow the sauce to set.
