Main Ingredients

  • 16 oz Cream Cheese softened
  • 1 packet Taco Seasoning
  • 16 oz Sour Cream
  • 1 cup Salsa (mild, medium, or hot depending on preference)
  • 2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • 1 can (15 oz) Refried Beans
  • 1/2 cup Black Olives sliced
  • Green Onions chopped (for garnish)
  • Tortilla Chips triangle shaped, for tombstones

Optional Ingredients

  • Guacamole diced
  • Diced Tomatoes
  • Jalapenos
  • Shredded Lettuce for the "ground"

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and taco seasoning. Mix until smooth and well combined.
  • Spread the refried beans evenly across the bottom of a large serving dish or platter.
  • Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the refried beans.
  • Add the sour cream.
  • Spread salsa evenly over the cream cheese layer.
  • Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the salsa.
  • Arrange the sliced black olives to resemble "dirt" or scattered debris.
  • Insert the triangle tortilla chips vertically into the dip to resemble tombstones.
  • Sprinkle chopped green onions around the "tombstones" and edges of the dip. You can add lettuce too!
  • Cover the dip and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together. Serve cold with extra tortilla chips for scooping.

Notes

For vegan substitutions, use vegan cream cheese, sour cream, and cheese alternatives. Ensure taco seasoning and tortilla chips are gluten-free for gluten sensitivities. To prevent sogginess, add tortilla tombstones just before serving.
