Method
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9x13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- For the cookie layer: In a mixing bowl, beat the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until combined. Stir in the chocolate chips.
- For the brownie layer: In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth. Stir in the cocoa powder, flour, and salt until well combined.
- Layer the cookie dough in the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly. Then, spoon the brownie batter on top of the cookie layer, spreading it out evenly over the cookie dough.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool before cutting into squares and serving.

For a spooky touch, you can add Halloween-themed sprinkles or candy eyes on top before baking, or decorate with orange icing after baking.
