Equipment

  • cutting board,
  • Platter

Method

  1. Prepare your workspace by laying out a large cutting board or platter for assembling the ham and cheese hand.
  2. Form the hand shape by laying out ham slices in the approximate shape of a hand, overlapping slices slightly.
  3. Layer cheese slices on top of the ham, mirroring the hand shape with a variety of cheeses for flavor and appearance.
  4. Create knuckles by slicing black olives in half and attaching them to the ham and cheese with cream cheese.
  5. Attach pretzel sticks as fingernails at the ends of fingers using cream cheese as glue; press firmly.
  6. Optionally, sprinkle red pepper flakes lightly to add a "bloody" effect; be mindful if serving kids.
  7. Surround the hand with crackers, bread slices, and vegetable sticks arranged artfully for presentation.
  8. If not serving immediately, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready.
