Ingredients

For the coating
  • 8 oz Purple candy melts for dipping
  • 8 oz Green candy melts for dipping or drizzling
  • 8 oz Yellow or gold candy melts for drizzling
  • 1 tsp Vegetable shortening or coconut oil to thin the melts if needed
For the pretzels and garnish
  • 24 Large pretzel rods room temperature
  • 1/2 cup Mardi Gras sprinkles colored sanding sugar or festive shapes

Equipment

  • Microwave-Safe Bowls
  • Large Baking Sheet
  • Parchment paper or silicone mat

Method

Prepare your station
  1. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat to prevent sticking.
Melt the Candy
  1. Place each color of candy melts into separate microwave-safe bowls. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each, until melted and smooth. If too thick, add a tiny bit of shortening.
Dip the Pretzels
  1. Dip each pretzel rod about halfway into your primary color (e.g., purple). Lift and let excess drip back into the bowl, then shake gently to smooth.
  2. Place dipped pretzels onto the prepared sheet. Divide among the colors.
Drizzle and Garnish
  1. Once the base coat is set for a minute, drizzle contrasting colors over the pretzels using a spoon or piping bag.
  2. While the drizzle is wet, shake sprinkles over the top.
Cool and Harden
  1. Let pretzels sit at room temperature for 20-30 minutes until firm, or refrigerate for 5 minutes if rushed.
