Ingredients

For the Pretzels
  • 1 pound 1 pound pretzel rods or twists (about 24 pieces)
For the Candy Melts
  • 2 cups 2 cups candy melts (purple)
  • 2 cups 2 cups candy melts (green)
  • 2 cups 2 cups candy melts (yellow or gold)
  • 3 tsp 3 coconut oil, divided
For Decoration
  • 1/4 cup 1/4 cup assorted sprinkles (gold sanding sugar, star-shaped)
For Dipping
  • Optional: oil-based food coloring if using white chocolate instead of melts

Equipment

  • Microwave-Safe Bowls
  • Large Baking Sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Spoons or piping bags
  • Tall narrow glasses for dipping

Method

Prepare Workspace
  1. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat to prevent sticking and ease cleanup.
  2. Place each color of candy melts into separate microwave-safe bowls, adding 1 teaspoon of coconut oil to each.
Melt the Candy
  1. Heat each bowl in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each, until the candy is smooth and fully melted (about 60-90 seconds total per bowl).
Dip and Decorate
  1. Take a pretzel rod and dip it about halfway into your chosen primary color (e.g., purple), using a spoon to coat if needed. Tap excess against the bowl edge.
  2. Allow the base layer to set for 2 minutes.
  3. Use a spoon or piping bag with a contrasting color (e.g., green or gold) to drizzle in zigzag patterns over the pretzel.
  4. While the drizzle is wet, generously sprinkle with gold sanding sugar or star sprinkles.
Set and Cool
  1. Place the decorated pretzel on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with remaining pretzels, varying colors for variety.
  2. Let pretzels sit at room temperature for 20 minutes until firm, or refrigerate for 5 minutes if in a hurry.

Notes

For a pro tip, use tall narrow glasses for dipping to submerge pretzels deeper with less mess. If candy overheats and thickens, stir in a bit more oil. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks. Gluten-free pretzels can be used for a gluten-free option. Serve as party favors or with festive drinks.
