  • 1 lb Italian sausage Mild or hot, depending on preference
  • 24 oz frozen cheese ravioli Any variety
  • 24 oz marinara sauce Choose a high-quality sauce
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese Whole milk or part-skim
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Freshly shredded is preferred
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese For extra cheesy flavor
  • 2 large eggs Lightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley Chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic Minced
  • salt and pepper To taste

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook Italian sausage, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain excess grease.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, mozzarella, Parmesan, eggs, parsley, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  4. Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce in the bottom of the baking dish.
  5. Layer half of the frozen ravioli, followed by half of the cooked sausage, and half of the cheese mixture.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining ravioli, sausage, and cheese mixture. Top with the remaining marinara sauce and sprinkle with additional mozzarella cheese.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Let the casserole rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes
