Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups Apple Cider unsweetened
  • 1 cup Cranberry Juice
  • 0.5 cup Lemon Juice freshly squeezed
  • 0.25 cup Simple Syrup adjust to taste
  • few drops Black Food Coloring (gel recommended)
  • 1-2 oz Vodka or Rum optional, for an adult version
  • Apple slices for garnish
  • Rock candy sticks for garnish
  • Black sanding sugar for rimming glasses

Instructions
 

  • Combine the apple cider, cranberry juice, and lemon juice in a large pitcher.
  • Add the simple syrup, starting with the recommended amount and adjusting to taste.
  • Add black food coloring a few drops at a time, stirring well after each addition until a deep black color is achieved.
  • Cover and refrigerate the pitcher for at least 2 hours to chill and meld flavors.
  • If desired, stir in vodka or rum just before serving, about 1-2 ounces per serving.
  • Rim glasses with black sanding sugar by moistening rims with water or lemon juice and dipping into the sugar.
  • Pour the drink into glasses and garnish with apple slices and rock candy sticks.

Notes

Gel food coloring is recommended for its concentrated color. For a fizzy variation, add sparkling water or club soda. This drink can be frozen in ice cube trays for chilling without dilution.
