Prepare the Patties
- In a large mixing bowl, gently combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, mustard, salt, and pepper. Avoid overmixing to keep patties tender. Divide into 4 oval patties, pressing a small indent in the center of each.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear patties for 4 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add 1 tablespoon butter. Sauté onions, garlic, and mushrooms until onions are translucent and mushrooms release moisture, about 5 minutes.
- Sprinkle flour over vegetables and cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in beef broth, stirring constantly until thickened, about 2-3 minutes.
- Return patties to skillet, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 10 minutes until patties are cooked through and gravy is velvety. If needed, add remaining butter for richness.

Notes
For a gluten-free version, use GF breadcrumbs. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days; reheat gently on stovetop with a splash of broth to prevent drying out. Optional variations: Use ground turkey and add 1 tsp olive oil to patties.
