Method
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly flour your work surface.
- Unroll both cans of crescent roll dough and press seams to form two large rectangles. Overlap edges and press to create one extra-large rectangle.
- Spread pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border. Sprinkle Italian seasoning and garlic powder over the sauce.
- Layer shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top.
- Roll dough tightly from one long side into a compact log. Pinch seam and tuck ends to seal.
- Slice dough log into 1.5-inch thick rounds (about 12-14 pieces). Arrange on baking sheet in shape of a skull, pressing sides together slightly.
- Optional: Use knife or cookie cutter to indent eye sockets and nose before baking for a defined skull shape.
- Brush the assembled skull with olive oil (optionally mixed with garlic powder or Italian seasoning).
- Bake in preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown, puffed, and cheese is bubbly.
- Remove from oven, decorate eyes with black olives, add bell pepper strips as teeth. Let cool 5-10 minutes before serving warm with extra sauce for dipping.
