Sweet and Salty Snack Mix

A harmonious blend of sweet and salty flavors perfect for any occasion, easy to make and customizable for allergies and preferences.

Ingredients
  

  • 6 cups pretzels mini twists or sticks
  • 3 cups cheese crackers like Cheez-Its or Goldfish
  • 2 cups mixed nuts peanuts, almonds, cashews
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1 cup M&Ms (plain or peanut)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (milk, dark, or semi-sweet)
  • 0.5 cup butter melted
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon popcorn salt optional

Equipment

  • Large bowl
  • Baking sheet
  • Microwave or stovetop for melting butter

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine pretzels, cheese crackers, mixed nuts, mini marshmallows, M&Ms, and chocolate chips.
  3. Melt the butter in a bowl using microwave (in 30-second intervals) or on the stovetop. Stir in brown sugar and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Pour the melted butter mixture over the dry ingredients and gently toss until every piece is evenly coated.
  5. Spread the coated snack mix in a single layer on a large baking sheet. Optionally sprinkle with popcorn salt.
  6. Bake for 10-15 minutes, stirring halfway through to prevent burning. Keep a close eye as ovens vary.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool completely on the baking sheet. The mix will harden and become crunchy.
  8. Break into pieces once cooled and store in an airtight container at room temperature. Enjoy!

Notes
