Ingredients

  • 8 oz Cream Cheese Softened to room temperature
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter Softened
  • 2 cups Powdered Sugar
  • 1 cup Heat Treated Cake Mix White or Strawberry flavor
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 cup Heavy Cream Or 1 cup Whipped Topping
  • 1/4 cup Valentine Sprinkles Pink and red hearts
  • Pink Food Coloring Optional

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • hand mixer,
  • - Spatula
  • Serving Bowl

Method

  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together until the mixture is completely smooth and free of lumps.
  2. Gradually add the powdered sugar one cup at a time, mixing on low speed until combined. Once the sugar is incorporated, turn the speed up to medium and beat for another minute to ensure fluffiness.
  3. Stir in the vanilla extract and the cake mix. If you want that iconic romantic pink hue, add one or two drops of pink food coloring now.
  4. Gently fold in your whipped topping or whipped heavy cream. You want to use a spatula here to keep the air in the mixture, resulting in a cloud-like consistency.
  5. Fold in half of your sprinkles. Transfer the dip to a serving bowl and top with the remaining sprinkles.

Notes

To ensure your Valentine's Day Dessert Dip Recipe is a success every single time, always make sure your cream cheese is truly at room temperature. If it is cold, you will end up with tiny lumps that are impossible to beat out later. Second, if you are using raw cake mix, make sure to heat treat it in the oven at 350 degrees for about 5 minutes to ensure it is safe to consume.
