- Bake the cake according to package directions and let it cool completely.
- While the cake cools, tint the vanilla frosting green using the green food coloring.
- Frost the cooled cake with the green frosting.
- Sprinkle the crushed chocolate cookies around the base of the cake to create a 'dirt' effect.
- Carefully arrange the candy eyeballs, gummy worms, and brownie tombstones (if using) on top of the frosted cake to create your zombie scene.
- Add a touch of red food coloring around the mouth (created with a knife) to make the cake look extra spooky!
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a vegan version, use a vegan cake mix and frosting. To create a more gory effect, add edible blood gel or red food coloring.
