Ingredients

  • 9 cups Rice Chex or Corn Chex cereal
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup green candy melts
  • 1/4 cup St. Patrick’s Day sprinkles a mix of greens, golds, and whites

Equipment

  • Large bowl
  • microwave-safe bowl,
  • 2-gallon zip-top bag
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper

Method

  1. Measure out 9 cups of Chex cereal into a very large bowl. Get a large, 2-gallon zip-top bag and add the 1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar. Set aside.
  2. In a medium microwave-safe bowl, combine the semisweet chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. Microwave on high for 1 minute. Remove and stir. If not completely smooth, microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until melted and creamy. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the Chex cereal in the large bowl. Gently fold and stir until evenly coated.
  4. Carefully transfer the coated cereal into the zip-top bag with the powdered sugar. Seal securely, leaving some air inside. Shake vigorously for 1-2 minutes until fully covered.
  5. Pour onto a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Spread into a single layer to cool.
  6. Place green candy melts in a small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring, until melted and smooth.
  7. Drizzle melted green candy over the puppy chow. Immediately scatter sprinkles on top.
  8. Let sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes until set. Break apart clumps and serve.
